This tomb is located on the east side of the Kidron Valley, on
the lower (western) slope of the Mount of Olives.
The tomb is carved out of solid rock. The two columns in the
front are of the Greek Doric style. The lintel above them is
composed of triglyphs and metopes and bears a Hebrew inscription
indicating that the tomb belonged to a family of priests - the
"sons of Hezir".
On the right side of the image the entrance to the tomb is
visible - from the area of "Zechariah's Tomb."
The "modern" Jewish cemetery on the lower slopes of the Mount
of Olives is visible just behind the stone wall above the tomb. |
